April 9 will be Alfonso Soriano and the Chicago Cubs home opener. The Cubs will take on Central Division rival, the Houston Astros at Wrigley Field. Here are Alfonso’s numbers against the Astros, and career at Wrigley Field:

2006 season v. the Astros:

8 rbi’s

6 strikeouts

Another very good batting average for Alfonso. His 8 rbi’s in 8 games is pretty impressive, but once again let’s improve upon the walks/strikeouts ratio.

2006 at Wrigley Field:

2-12, .167 batting average

1 run

0 doubles

0 triples

1 homeruns

1 rbi

0 walks

4 strikeouts

Alfonso had some struggles at Wrigley, although in his two hits, he did hit a solo blast.

Career v. the Astros:

23 games.

26-92, .283 batting average

22 runs

17 rbi’s

5 walks

14 strikeouts

Alfonso’s .283 batting average is real near his career average. His 22 runs in 23 games is impressive, along with 17 rbi’s.

Career at Wrigley Field:

1 walk

9 strikeouts

Alfonso’s .160 batting average is not very good, and the 1 walk to 9 strikeouts will have to change.
